Michael Kelley Gaines, 26, of Mill Village, passed away suddenly at home on October 10, 2015. Michael was born in Erie, PA on March 14, 1989. He was a combat veteran having served with the United States Army in Iraq and was a member of the American Legion Post 285 in Waterford. He proudly worked at Parker Industries and enjoyed hunting, working out, dirt bikes, and being with his animals. Growing up in Mill Village, Michael was involved in the Cub Scouts and Little League.
Michael will be sadly missed by his loving parents, Jon and Leanne Gaines; sister Samantha and her husband Mike Mahanes; sister Cheyenne Gaines; brother Josh Gaines and his wife Shaina; sister Abby Gaines; Grandma Ellen Kisieleski; nephews Isaac and Kellen; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Gaines; his grandfather John Kisieleski; and grandparents Joe and Alice Kelley.
Friends are invited to Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford, PA on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in Waterford Cemetery (West).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fort LeBoeuf American Legion Post 285, PO Box 171, Waterford, PA 16441.
You have been such a great co-worker … and an even better friend !! You were so smart and so talented … and the things you didn’t know, you learned so quickly … I can’t wrap my head around the notion that I will never see you again in this life. I am devastated … It has been both an honor and a privilege to know you, Mike !! Rest well, “Young Brutha” …. until we meet again, my good friend …. rest well. You WILL be missed.
