Curtis Robinson, 81, of Edinboro, PA, passed away on November 1, 2015, in his home. He was born on May 12, 1934 in Wilmington, NC, and he enlisted in the United States Army in 1953 and served as a paratrooper.
Curtis graduated from Howard University where he met his wife of 48 years, Joan Elizabeth Williams Robinson. He attended the University of Maryland where he earned his doctorate in Botany. In 1972, he gained employment at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania as a professor of Biology. He retired from EUP in 1997. Curtis placed a great value on education all of his life. He was a member of Saint Augustine Church in Edinboro.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Isaiah Robinson and Lula Waddell Robinson, and eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Joan E. Williams Robinson, a resident of Pleasant Ridge Manor; a brother, Isaiah (Buddy) Robinson of Washington, DC; a daughter, Deborah Denise Robinson of Wilmington, NC; a son, Milton Curtis Robinson (Robin Anne) of Edinboro, PA ; a daughter Cheryl Ann Robinson Kirven of Roanoke TX; and four grandchildren, Reese and Remlee Robinson, and Rio and Piper Kirven. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend viewing hours at Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro, PA on Friday, November 6 from 2-4:00 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held there on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Grainger Family Cemetery in Leland, NC.
The Robinson family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the neighbors of Shelhamer Circle for their help and support over the past several years. Their kindness allowed Curtis to safely stay in his beloved home, as he wished. You have been a blessing to him.
