Ken Burns, age 39, of Waterford, died at his home on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 after a long illness. Born in Erie on February 28, 1976, Ken is the son of Sandi and Duane Proctor of Waterford.
?? Ken was a wonderful husband and loving father with a “heart of gold”. He cherished his wife Denise, whom he called “the best wife ever”, and loved to take her and their two children on day trips to places like Niagara Falls or to a firemen’s museum. Ken was a proud member of Stancliff Hose Company in Waterford, and along with his son Lane, shared great interest in firefighter collectibles and memorabilia.
Ken enjoyed cooking for his family, being outdoors, and camping. His pride and joy were his wife and “two babies” who will always remember him for putting others before himself, even during his hard-fought battle with illness.
Family members include his wife, Denise J. Perkins Burns; his children- Desiree Burns and Kenny Burns, and Lane and Lillyann Burns; his parents, Sandi and Duane Proctor; a sister, Angela Fries and husband George; mother-in-law Kathleen Perkins; father-in-law Roger Perkins; brother-in-law Kevin Perkins and wife Kimberly; sister-in-law Debra Donnell and husband Trevor; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, West Second Street, Waterford on Monday at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Gary Donaldson. Burial will follow at Waterford Cemetery.
The Burns family will accept memorial donations in lieu of flowers.
