? Paul Richard Doubet, age 57, resident of Cambridge Springs, passed away on July 31, 2016 at Meadville Medical Center surrounded by his loving family after a courageous nine month battle with liver cancer. Born on September 23, 1958, in Meadville, Paul was a son of the late Raymond A. Doubet and Marian Clara Girardat Doubet.

Doubet, Paul007Paul graduated from Saegertown High School in 1977 and began working as a machinist for McCroskey Tool of Meadville, and later worked for Turners Mill, Cambridge Springs, for over thirteen years. He was also self-employed as a dozer and backhoe operator for some time. For twenty years he worked with the maintenance department of the Penncrest School District. A skilled equipment operator, Paul was instrumental in building the Saegertown High School football and baseball fields and the Cambridge High School softball fields. He enjoyed deer hunting with his brothers and was an avid reader, cook, and wood worker. He also enjoyed refurbishing chain saws and mowing his yard with his compact tractor.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Doubet and his father-in-law, Elmer Zilhaver. Paul married his country girl sweetheart, Monique Lynn ?Moni? Zilhaver on October 17, 1992, and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Bobbi Anne Doubet, of Cambridge Springs; three brothers – Thomas Doubet and his wife, Charlene, of Edinboro; Gene Doubet and his wife, Candace, of Conneautville; John Doubet and his wife, Susan, of Meadville; three sisters – Linda Doubet of Meadville; Mary Phillips and her husband, Carl, of Oswego, NY; and Dorothy Walk and her husband, Robert, of Meadville; his mother-in-law, Carol Zilhaver of Cambridge Springs; and sister-in-law’s – JoAnn Doubet of Meadville; Chantelle Zilhaver of Cambridge Springs; and Melinda Garner and her husband, Louis, of Ridgeway, PA; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home, Cambridge Springs, on Tuesday, August 2, from 2-5 and are invited to funeral services there on Wednesday, August 3 at 11 a.m. with Smith Doubet, nephew of Paul, officiating. Interment will follow at Millers Station Cemetery.
