Bernadine G. Pietrowski, age 78, resident of 24376 North Mosiertown Road, Edinboro, PA, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Hamot Medical Center, Erie surrounded by her family. Pietrowski, Bernadine002Born on November 7, 1937 in Meadville, Bernadine was a daughter of the late Helen Sweeney Hecker. She married Donald E. Pietrowski on August 24, 1968 and he survives.

Bernadine graduated from Cambridge Springs High School? and had an extensive career as a legal secretary for attorneys – Eckels, Blystone, Fuller, Kinnenun, and Smith of Meadville and then for the Pennsylvania Department of Health retiring in 2003 after 20 years of service. She thoroughly enjoyed her pure-bred Arabian horses “Midnight and Flash” and showing, parading, and caring for them. Bernadine was passionate about raising exotic birds and Llamas. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, bird watching, hunting, and fishing. In recent years she spent time during the winter months in Port St. Lucie, FL.

In addition to her husband, Donald, Bernadine is survived by six children – Brian Handel and his wife, Michele of Saegertown; Brenda Tucci and her husband, Frank of Edinboro; Cheryl Burrows and her husband, Al of Canal Fulton, OH; Linda Tucci and her husband, Gary of Crossingville; Patty Beaty and her husband, Steven of Fair Lawn, OH; and Gordon Pietrowski and his wife, Carrie of Crossingville. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; two brothers – Dennis Hecker and his wife, Eileen of Erie; Tom Hecker and his wife, Pat of Minnesota; two sisters – Jane Mallory and her husband, Tom of Erie; and Sara Wright of Saegertown and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Friday, July 8th from 6 until 8 and on Saturday from 10 until 11. A funeral service will begin there at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. David White, lay pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Saint James Cemetery, Crossingville.
