Samuel Colera, age 73, resident of Waterford, passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 at UPMC Hamot. Born in Jamestown, NY on June 23, 1943, he is one of two sons of Catherine D’Angelo Colera of Jamestown and the late Michael Paul Colera. Sam married Margaret E. “Peggy” Hicks on November 9, 1963 and she survives to mourn his loss.

For over 30 years Sam worked as a tool and die maker and then worked after his retirement at Target and Lowes. Sam was a “motorhead” and very knowledgeable about cars. He enjoyed attending car shows and was the proud original owner of a 1968 Plymouth Road Runner. Sam also liked to travel with his wife and daughter, he liked planting trees on his property, and he loved his dog Nicholas. Sam had a good sense of humor and was a quiet man who could never find fault with anyone he knew.

In addition to his wife Peggy Colera, Sam is survived by his daughter Canice “Candy” Colera; a brother Michael P. Colera Jr. and his wife Danielle of San Antonio, TX; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Pastor Ron Kennedy of Draketown Christian Church will officiate at the funeral service on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m., and the committal service and burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at?Holy Sepulchre?Cemetery in Jamestown, NY.
