John H. Renick, age 87, resident of R D #1, Edinboro, PA, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 at UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA after a period of failing health. Born on June 19, 1929 in Saegertown, PA, John was a son of the late Stephen and Amelia Havlas Renick. On March 21, 1955, he married the former Shirley Beason and she survives.

John worked at Hammermill Paper Company in Erie for 43 years as a battery technician. He was a member of Saint Philips Catholic Church in Crossingville and the McKean Ushers Club. He also was a life member of Local Union #620 of Erie, and the Union City Moose. He enjoyed being with his family and being out doors hunting and cutting fire wood.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers – George Renick and Steve Hrenick; five sisters – Louise Haboda, Janet Kurt, Irene Weidner, Sally Dasovich, and Frances Bennett. Surviving John in addition to his wife, Shirley of 61 years, are three sons – Danial Renick and his wife, Dolores of McKean; Michael Renick and his wife, Sharon of Edinboro, and Steve Renick and his wife, Karen of Edinboro; two daughters – Sherry Alward and her husband, Chester of Crossingville and Kimberly Sanders of Edinboro. Also serving are his grandchildren – Dan, Jay, and Brad Renick; D.J., Tom, and Mary Sanders; Kyle and Matt Renick; and Tyler and Ryan Sanders. Also his great grandchildren – Nate, Nick, Lauren, Colton, Jackson, Scarlette Renick; and Jamison Renick; and Madison and Gavin Sanders; a sister – Mildred Kurt; his mother-in-law – Doretta Beason and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Wednesday, September 7th from 6 until 8 and on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Philips Catholic Church on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Phillip Oriole pastor of the Church as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. James Cemetery, Crossingville.
