Sara J. Martin, age 79, died peacefully at her home, 24263 State Hwy #408, Cambridge Springs with family members surrounding her on Thursday, October 20, 2016. Born on March 9, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA, Sara was a daughter of the late Guy Gallo and Beatrice DeGore Gallo. She married William Thomas Martin on April 2, 1970 and he survives.
Sara enjoyed watching and caring for children of all ages and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Of particular pleasure to her were her doberman and boxer dogs.
Included among Sara’s survivors is her husband – Bill Martin, two sons – Leo Olszewski and his wife, Debbie of Cambridge Springs and Gary Olszewski and his wife, Diane of Cambridge Springs; two grandsons – Leo Olszewski (Rachel) and their son – Lucas Anthony Olszewski of Cambridge Springs and David Olszewski (Mary Lou) of Bellefonte. Also surviving are three sisters – Louise Torsney of Pittsburgh; Elizabeth Sommers of Irwin; and Francie Seifried of Pittsburgh and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sara was preceded in death by a brother – Frank Gallo and three sisters – Jenny Turnell, Carmella Trafarcanti, and Anna Rump.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Sunday, October 23rd from 2-4 and 6-8 and are invited to funeral services there on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Father David Poulson, pastor of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church? in Cambridge Springs will officiate. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery.
