Gene Culver, age 69, son of the late Arthur Culver and Bertha Howe Culver and formerly of Cambridge Springs, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at his home in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born in Meadville on August 6, 1947.
??????Following Gene’s graduation from Cambridge Springs High School in 1965, Gene enlisted in the US Navy serving his country on the USS Summit County, LST-1146. Following his honorable discharge on November 14, 1972, he attended New Castle Business College where he received an Associates Degree. He then began employment at General Electric in Erie where he worked for 35 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of Cambridge Springs American Legion #381.
Gene is preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a sister – Jeannette Culver. He is survived by a sister – Wanda Styborski and her husband, David of Ft Worth, TX; a brother – David Culver and his wife, MaryAnn of Meadville, PA; and a sister – Sylvia Snyder and her husband, Dr. Wayne Snyder of Glendora, California. He was a loving uncle to – Heather Mitchell and her husband, Tim of Ft Worth TX; Brian Styborski and his wife, Miranda of Mineral Wells TX; Patty Dean and her husband, Robbie of Meadville, PA; Catherine Culver of Ellicott City, MD; David Culver, Jr of Catonsville, MD; Sabrina Snyder of Rochester, New York; Justin Snyder of Glendora, CA; and a loving great uncle to – Alice and Khloe Mitchell; Kendon Styborski; Sarah and Jonah Dean; and Gwendolyn Snyder.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 335 Venango Avenue, Cambridge Springs, PA on Thursday, February 23rd from 2-4 and 6-8 and are invited to attend services there on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Millers Station Cemetery.
