McCracken, Kathryn

Kate, or “Grammy”, was the beloved matriarch of her family. While she was loved and adored by her family, she had even more capacity to love them back and was always an important part of their everyday lives.

Kate married William J. McCracken and lived in Summit Township, Erie County. Several years after his death she moved and has resided at her home in Mosiertown for the past 30 years. She was proud of the fact that she was a tool maker and worked at Elgin Electronics in Waterford for 16 years.

Besides spending time with her family, Kate enjoyed traveling, gardening, painting ceramics, bird watching, and she was an avid reader and puzzle solver who loved many pets over her years. She will be remembered fondly as a game enthusiast and a lively card player/cheater!

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bradley C. McCracken, and three siblings.

Family members include her four children– William J. McCracken of Springboro, James G. McCracken and wife Darlene of Endeavor, PA Cathy M. McCracken of Elgin, SC, and Kimerly F. McCracken (Doug Haggerty) of Sheakleyville; also, four step-children– Margaret Irwin and Carolyn Juskalian (husband, Drew) all of Massachusetts, Jeane McCracken of Connecticut, and Randy Niemeyer (wife, Lorrie) of Erie. Other family members include four brothers– William, James, Jack, and Gerald; two sisters– Dottie and Arlene; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and finally, Kate raised two children of her heart– grandson Eric and great-granddaughter Makayla.
