Virginia “Honey” Hewitt Vincent Bedow went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 10, 2017. She was born in Erie on September 11, 1926, the daughter of the late John and Mary Sippola Hewitt.

Virginia had worked at National Organ Supply, Palmers Dry Cleaning, Marx Toys, Marathon Electric, and General Electric. She was an avid reader and freelance writer, writing several articles for the Erie Times News and several magazines. She loved and enjoyed her family and friends very much and was very proud of her Finnish heritage.

Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her brothers, John R. Hewitt who was killed in WWII, and Edward P. Hewitt; her sister Katherine Smith; also, her first husband Roy D. Vincent and her second husband Donald E. Bedow; her step-son Donald P. Bedow, her step-daughter Carol Whitman, and her daughter-in-law Janice Vincent.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Ron) Pearce, Diane (Don) Johnson, Karin (Tom) Platz, and step-daughter-in-law Patsy Bedow, all of Waterford; also, three sons, David Vincent, Robert Bedow, and Jim (Michelle) Bedow, all of Florida.
Virginia also has ten grandchildren: Bryan (Peanut) Merritt, Denise (Chris) Romecki, Kim (Jeff) Wiltse, Colleen Curtis, Matt Ranyak, Danielle Ranyak, Jennifer (Nic) Diplacido, Staci (Seth) Moore, Logan Bedow, and Erik (Amber) Vincent; eleven great-grandchildren: Brianna, Brandon, Kayla, Brittany, Derek, Caitlin, Hayley, Rhiannon, Nathan, Ellie, and Izzy; and three great-great-grandchildren: Summer, Lennox, and Brentley.

Friends are invited to call at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and may attend the funeral there on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Greg Jack of the Waterford Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will follow in Waterford Cemetery.
