Delores W. Keefer, age 91, a lifelong resident of Waterford, PA, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2017 at Golden Living-Walnut Creek. She was born in Waterford on December 24, 1925, daughter of the late Ray and Minnie Wade Owens.

Delores was a graduate of Waterford High School class of 1943, and worked at the Waterford Elementary School as a cafeteria chef until her retirement in 1990. She was a phenomenal cook and loved to create delicious dinners for her family. Dee’s specialty was making pies and desserts, of which she was very proud.

She was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Waterford, and she enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards with her husband and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Louise Chase; son, Danny R. Keefer; and grandson, Danny C. Keefer.

Delores will be missed by her loving husband and soul mate of 74 years, Samuel F. Keefer; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Margo Keefer; two grandchildren, Sarah Rowe (Davin) and Juliann Richling (Christopher); and three great-grandchildren, Samuel, Opal, and Elizabeth.

Delores enjoyed bird watching from her porch and had a special place in her heart for cardinals. “When a cardinal appears, a loved one is near.” -Anonymous

Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the funeral at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Gary Donaldson of Asbury Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Waterford Cemetery.
