Dollyanna Owens, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2018 following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Waterford, she was born February 24, 1932 to the late Charles J. and Crystelle E. Hewitt McKay.

Dolly was a loving mother and grandmother who loved watching her grandchildren in all their activities. She never missed an event and was always known to carry in her purse snacks for the kids– cheese and cucumbers! Dolly worked as a bookkeeper at First National Bank in Waterford, was a stay at home mother for her two boys for 20 years, and then worked as a bookkeeper at Troyer Farms for 25 years. She was a diehard fan of Cleveland sports– Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell N. Owens in April of 1969; and her three sisters, Cornelia “Nin” Barton, Doris M. “Tootie” Whipple, and Ethel Mae Stafford.

She will be greatly missed by her two sons, Philip Owens and Jeffrey Owens (Mary) of Waterford; her seven grandchildren- Darrell Owens (Heather) of Alexandria, VA, Danielle Himes (Mike) of Wexford, PA, Devin Owens (Shantel) of Corry, PA, Deanna Owens (fianc? Kyle) of Kittanning, PA, Dillon Owens of Wexford, PA, Darla Owens of Columbus, OH, and Donovan Owens of Waterford; her three great-grandchildren- Ethan and Ryan Himes, and Lincoln Owens; her brother Charles J. McKay Jr. of Erie; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The Owens family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Edinboro Manor.

Visiting hours will be at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held there Tuesday morning at 11:00 and will be officiated by Rev. Emily Zeig-Lindsey of the Waterford Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Waterford Cemetery.
