Hoover, James A. “Jim” Sr.

James A. “Jim” Hoover Sr., age 62, of Edinboro, and formerly of Millcreek, died Friday, July 6, 2018 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 7, 1956, the son of the late Joseph W. Hoover and Catherine Wurst Hoover.

Jim married the love of his life, Ann Rawlings on October 28, 1978, and together they raised their family in Millcreek while he worked at Erie Strayer Co. for 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying archery, gardening, hunting, and fishing, and he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Frances Ginkel Hoover; his brother, Joseph W. Hoover Jr.; and his father- and mother-in-law, H.E. Rawlings and Mary Agnes Daily Rawlings.

Jim is survived by his wife, Ann Rawlings Hoover; his son, James A. Hoover Jr. (Melanie); his daughter, Catherine M. Hoover (Ryan Krayniewski); a grandson, Joseph W. Hoover; also, a sister, Nancy Daub; a sister-in-law, Amy Rawlings Williams; brother-in-law, Edward Rawlings (Eileen); and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be at Van Matre Funeral Home, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Cliff Forbes of New Beginnings Church of God will officiate. Interment will be private at Erie County Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Garden of Edin, First United Presbyterian Church, 4281 Rt. 6N, Edinboro, PA 16412, or to New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Road, Meadville, PA 16335.

…oh Ann… I haven’t stopped thinking about you ALL DAY…my sister and my brother are aware…I sent these pictures to remind you that you are my oldest, longest friend…this song just SO kept you in my mind all day…my Don VanKirk is my best friend, but, we aren’t married… and so, I can’t say that I know what you are dealing with…I can only imagine…but, Ann, I am, and will be here, for you… whatever I can do, just let me know…my heart ❤️ breaking for you… I go to sleep now, with a tear in my eye…Ann, my heart ❤️ hasn’t been this heavy for 3 years, since your dad…😢💓jim

Ann, I was shocked to hear of Jims passing, Jim was always making me laugh at work, a great guy and a gentleman he
will be missed, I can still remember him talking about this great gal named Ann he was crazy about ! Please know we are thinking of you during this difficult time.Your family wiil be in our prayers ! Your old friend Marc
