The gates of Heaven were opened to receive our beloved mom, grandma and great-grandma, Marian P. Breon, age 90, on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Edinboro Manor.

Born to the late William Miller and Helen Hobart White in Hartstown, PA on March 30, 1928, she was a proud graduate of Meadville High School. She enjoyed working at Talon, Elgin Electronics, Russell’s and Holland-Metro RE.

Breon, Marian001Marian was a young widow of Duane G. Shaw and went on to become the loving wife of 62 years to James R. Breon. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2003. Together they moved to Waterford and became owners of Breon’s Arco.

A supportive mother of Brenda Keeney Cannell and the late Bradley Breon, Marian kept a wonderful, welcoming home. She loved her extended family and hosted many gatherings, often sharing her terrific mashed potatoes and apple dumplings.

She loved the water- boating, waterskiing and renting cottages on Edinboro Lake. Marian loved to decorate and was a talented seamstress, painter and gardener. A competitor, she taught each of her grandchildren many games, never just “letting” them win.

A long-time member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Waterford, she enjoyed membership in many civic and religious organizations.

Marian also was preceded in death by her sister Denise Winter Minor and two brothers-in-law.

Survived by Brenda Keeney Cannell and Laura Nelson Breon, she was grandma to Hilary (Joseph) Devlin, Jamieson (Jen) Keeney, Sarah (Dickie) Feeney, Corrine (Buddy) Palotas, Mallory (Kyle) Kasinec and Cody Breon. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Thomas White, and many special nieces, nephews, and their families.

Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford on Monday from 4-6 p.m. and may attend the funeral service which follows at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be Tuesday morning in Waterford Cemetery.
