Ralph Raymond Caldwell, age 85, of Cambridge Springs, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2018, at Edinboro Manor. Ralph was born on August 23, 1933, in Washington Township the son of Frank and Violet Webster Caldwell. On June 9, 1956, he married Barbara Ann Walters and she preceded him in death on July 22, 2015. Ralph graduated from Cambridge Springs High School in 1952, and in 1953, began a 42 year career working for Silgan Container in Cambridge Springs until his retirement in 1995. He owned and operated the Caldwell blueberry farm which he founded in 1972. Until four years ago, he thoroughly enjoyed roller skating and instructing others at the Canadohta Roller Rink.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Caldwell in 1992; and his sister, Edna Baccus in 2012.
Survivors include daughter Cynthia Marie Caldwell of Waterford; son, Kevin Caldwell of Cambridge Springs; grandson, Joshua Caldwell serving with the U.S. Air Force; granddaughter, Erica Caldwell of Blooming Valley; brother, Roland Caldwell of Ravenna, OH; and his sister, Nancy McCain of Meadowsland, TX.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Thursday, December 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a funeral service on Friday, December 14 at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Rod Beardsley officiating. Interment will be at Venango Cemetery.
