Joshua Edward Davis, age 35, of Meadville, passed away peacefully at home and is now walking with the Lord. Joshua was born in Meadville on October 05, 1983, the son of James Edward Davis and Donna Ann Zirkle Davis. He graduated with the class of 2004 from Saegertown High School and from the Meadville High School Life Skills class. For over 30 years, Josh participated in Special Olympics where he medaled and received numerous ribbons in track and field, floor hockey, volleyball and bowling. At the 2007 Special Olympics Pennsylvania state competition held at Villa Nova University, Josh received the Award of Valor for Strength, Spirit and Sportsmanship. He worked at Gringo’s Mexican Restaurant in Meadville, volunteered at Meadville Medical Center, and also raised funds for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, the ARC of Crawford County, and the Jimmy Moore Fund. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Buddy and Ozzie and was an avid WWE, Steelers and Pirates fan.
Joshua was preceded in death by his sister, Tanya Davis in 1981; his grandparents, Robert and Elaine Zirkle; grandmother, Gayle Davis; grandparents, William and Sally Davis; and uncles: Dale Zirkle, Dan Zirkle, and Mike Davis.
In addition to his parents, Joshua is survived by his brother, Jason William Davis of Meadville; his close friend, Patti Unger of Meadville; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff of Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Center of Meadville and the Meadville Medical Center for their support and care.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Thursday, December 20, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and are invited to a funeral service to be held there on Friday, December 21, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Jim Callender of the First Church of God officiating. Interment will be at Millers Station Cemetery.
