Russel M. Wilson, 83, of Cambridge Springs passed away on November 20, 2020, at Meadville Medical Center. Russel was born in Woodcock Township on August 25, 1937, the son of the late Albert James Wilson and Gladys Martha Guttridge Wilson. He graduated with the Cambridge Springs High School class of 1955, and married Lorraine E. Porter on July 30, 1961. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict from 1961-1963. He had worked at W L Dunn Construction, Turners Mill and for Channellock retiring in 2000 after 35 years of service as a foreman. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, camping, playing cards and travel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Wilson, on April 19, 2001; his brother, Jack Wilson; and his sister, Evelyn Petsche.
Survivors include companion, Joanne Dunlap of Townville; son, Jeffrey R. Wilson, and his wife, Lynn, of Meadville; daughter, Cheryl Simmons, and her husband, Roy, of Meadville; granddaughter, Amber Hotchkiss, and her husband Jacob of Yuma, Arizona; granddaughter, Kayla Wilson, of Meadville; a great-grandchild to be born in July; niece, Christa Lee Amato, and her husband, Jim of Florida; niece, Cathy Hayes of Florida; niece, Sally Jo Huddleston, and her husband, Rick, of Alaska; niece, Lisa Nunez, and her husband, Bert, of Texas; niece, Denise Pepper, and her husband, Frank, of Texas; and sister-in-law, Raetta Porter, of Cambridge Springs.
Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home, 335 Venango Avenue, Cambridge Springs on Monday, November 23, 2020, from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held there on Tuesday, November 24, at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Cindy Mealey officiating. Interment will follow at Venango Cemetery.
