Jack L. Snyder, age 78, longtime resident of Waterford, lost his brave battle with Melanoma on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at his home. Jack was from Wrightsville, Warren County, PA and was born there on October 17, 1942 to the late Grover Snyder and Elizabeth Peters Wright. He married Susan C. Winschel on December 29, 1962, and she survives.
Jack was a hard worker, a real “Jack of all trades”– literally. He was willing to help anyone, and did just that over the years at his many jobs. Since 1970, Jack, along with his wife, operated Snyder Engines, a small engine repair business where he repaired, and welded and fabricated parts for everything from snowmobiles to boats to motorcycles. He simultaneously worked at Steris Corporation for 42 years, worked as a carpenter for Jim Young Construction, built and operated Tee Jay’s, the ice cream stop on Rt. 19, and he farmed. He was even able to put in hay this last year. Apart from working, he enjoyed trips to the casino.
Jack was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather and friend who will be missed dearly by all! His family includes his wife, Susan; daughter, Patty Snyder Harrington (Michael) of Waterford; granddaughter, Trisha Rosenthal of Waterford; great-grandchildren, Shay and Jynavei Rosenthal; his siblings- Connie Clark (Jim) of North Carolina, Dennis Wright (Joni) of Bear Lake, PA, Kathy Keyes of Bradford, PA, Melody Rulander (Jeff) of Warren, PA, and Christine Hackley of North Carolina; also, his brother-in-law, Carl Winschel (Pat) of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by siblings John Wright, Barbara Querreveld, Eugene Wright, Sharon Reynolds, and Fred Wright Jr.
Friends may visit with the family at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford on Tuesday, February 16th from 4 – 6 p.m.
