Jeannette Louise Turner Waxham “beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter” age 85 of Somerset, PA passed away at her residence on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Jeannette was born on December 6, 1935, in Philadelphia the daughter of the late Millard Seldon Turner, Sr. and Dorothy Rhodes Redding Turner. She graduated with the class of 1953 from North East High School, North East, PA and attended Penn State University/Behrend for two years. On September 3, 1955, Jeannette married Melvin N. Waxham, Sr. at St Gregory Church, North East, PA. After marriage, she made her first home in State College, PA; before moving to Laurel, Maryland; then Collierville, TN and finally Somerset, PA. For over fifty years she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and belonged to the Homemakers Club in Laurel, MD.

     In addition to her parents, Jeannette was preceded in death by her brother, Millard S. Turner, Jr in 2009.

     Survivors include her husband, Melvin N. Waxham, Sr. of Somerset, PA; son, M. Neal Waxham, Jr. and his wife, Florence of Houston, TX; daughter, Dorothy E. Waxham Lease and her husband, Alan of Berlin, PA; son, Jon C. Waxham and his wife, Julie of Millsboro, DE; daughter, Melanie N. Waxham of Cordova, TN; grandchildren: Zachary D. Lease, Jared A. Lease, Kyle N. Waxham and Celine J. Waxham; sister, Carole Shaw and husband, Ray of Knoxville, TN; brother, Steven Turner and wife Monica of Jacksonville, FL; and nieces, nephews and several special friends.

     Interment will be at Mitchell Cemetery, Cambridge Springs, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
