Brett Arthur Brace, of Waterford, passed away on August 13, 2021 at UPMC Hamot following a lengthy battle with illness. The son of Levant and Anna Brace, Brett was born at Corry Hospital, along with his twin brother, on May 25, 1956. He graduated from Fort LeBoeuf High School in 1974. Brett was a born business man. Whether you were a long-time friend, co-worker, customer or stranger, Brett cared about you and your story. Due to this, he made friends easily and he kept those friends throughout his life.

As Brett became more successful in the apartment business, he discovered that he had Lupus. This medical blow had lifelong, far-reaching effects. Brett started Brace Insurance Agency and operated the business until his death. Here he helped his clients to prepare for life’s unexpected, something he had learned through his own struggles. Brett also worked for Associated Clinical Labs for more than seven years. He greatly enjoyed working with his colleagues at ACL.

Brett and Craig operated Craig’s Sub and Pizza Shop in Waterford for nearly 40 years. Through the pizza shop, they became integral members of the Waterford community. Many people have fond memories of working at the shop. Many more have fond memories of long talks with the Brace Twins as their pizzas got cold. The twins were best friends, no matter their circumstances.

Brett is pre-deceased by his father, Levant, and twin brother, Craig. He is survived by his mother, Anna, of Waterford, brother, Darrell (Pam) of Bon Aqua, TN, and several nephews, a niece, several great-nieces and a great-nephew.

Visiting hours will be at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford on Tuesday, August 17th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be there Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. with burial following at Waterford Cemetery.
