Irena B. Reinwald, age 82, passed away at her home in Waterford on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Westover, PA on August 21, 1939, the daughter of Alfred and Lillian Leamer Muir. On February 15, 1958, she married Richard D. Reinwald who mourns her loss.

While Irena worked many years as a cook, she was the perfect wife and homemaker, making a loving home for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was very skilled at sewing, making crafts, and cooking—all evident by the happy family meals, and the handmade blankets given to each grandchild. Irena and her husband were always together and especially enjoyed taking long car rides on country roads. After they retired, they even drove cars for New Motors. And her kids and grandkids were her pride and joy, always keeping track of their busy lives. Irena was a member of the Perry Hi-Way Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary and a past Girl Scout leader.

In addition to her husband Richard, Irena is survived by her four children: Cherie Cole and her husband David of Wattsburg, Diana Griffin and her husband Douglas of Sebring, FL, Dick Reinwald and his wife Jennifer of Waterford, and Jerry Reinwald and his wife Nancy of Cambridge Springs; 15 grandsons and 15 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mabel Cochran of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Renee Jenks, a grandson Kevin Griffin, a granddaughter Gabrielle Griffin, and two brothers, Howard and Bill Schrock.

Visiting hours will be at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford on Monday, April 25th from 4-8 p.m. and the funeral service Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with James Erdman from UPMC Home Healthcare officiating. Committal service and burial will follow at Waterford Cemetery.
