Robert Henry Gross, 91, of Cambridge Springs, formerly of Harborcreek, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 10, 2022, at Edinboro Manor. He was born in Harborcreek on July 30, 1930, the son of the late Hattie B. (Kickendorf) Gross and Willis H. Gross. Bob was a graduate of North East High School and was drafted into the United States Army where he served during the Korean Conflict, being discharged in 1954. He was employed by the Lord Corporation in Erie, then Saegertown, for 40 years, retiring in 1991. Bob was a devoted husband to the love of his life, May M. (Bird) Gross, whom he married November 27, 1954, 67 years ago. They were inseparable, and very devoted to their Methodist faith.  He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing Euchre at the Cambridge Springs Senior Center. Bob enjoyed boating on the boat named “Kathy Ann”, fishing, and especially those summer trips to Fraser Lake, Ontario, Canada. He also enjoyed hunting with his many dogs named Jack, and loved the sport of hockey, especially his favorite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was a very loving dad to his four children and very involved and supportive of all their various activities, such as volleyball, softball and little League, where he also served as coach. He was also a loving Dad to his children’s spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by many loving siblings.

      Survivors include his wife, May M. (Bird) Gross; daughters Debra A. McGraw (Timothy) and Kathy J. Pourmehr (Faramarz); sons Daniel R. Gross (Kathryn) and Kevin L. Gross (Valerie) and 11 Grandchildren and 9½ great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Walter Gross.

     A special thank you goes out to the staff at Edinboro Manor. Over the past six months, they became part of Bob’s family and had cared for him with that spirit.      

Family and friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home, Cambridge Springs on Thursday June 16 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held there on Friday June 17, at 10:00 am with interment to follow at the Venango Cemetery.
