Richard Eugene Kreider passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 after a short illness. He was born June 28, 1952 in Erie, PA, son of the late Eugene and Marjorie (Wick) Kreider. Rick grew up on the family farm, helping with the large herd of beef cattle and working the fields of crop land. He loved operating the tractors and equipment to till, plant, and harvest the crops. “Making hay” was one of his favorite jobs – mowing, raking, and baling, and hauling it into the barns. This love of farming continued throughout his life, and he also developed a great love for horses, no doubt inheriting this from his mother. From the pony “Coco” that he and his sisters rode as children, to many other horses as he grew up, they were always special to him. So much so, he started raising and showing Arabian horses and passed the love of these horses on to his daughter Sara. Cats also became very special to him, with Kloe, Midnight, and Snickers essentially ruling the house. Rick loved the outdoors and riding his horses, always had a large garden, and he loved spending time observing the native wildlife.

Rick graduated from Fort LeBoeuf High School and served in the National Guard. Rick started his own business, h2O Resources Inc., in which he maintained water and waste water treatment systems in Northwest Pennsylvania.

Rick was proceeded in death by his wife Mary (Cuneo) Kreider in 2014. He is survived by a daughter: Sara (Nathan) Wurst; a son: Travis Kreider; two sisters: Janice (Robert) McLaughlin of McKean and Cynthia Kreider of Waterford; one grandson: Austin Voelker; and one granddaughter: Katrina Kreider.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Calling hours will be Monday, June 20th from 5 to 8 pm at Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford, PA. Funeral services will be held there Tuesday, June 21st at 10:00 am with Rev. Tori Heath officiating. Interment will follow at Waterford Cemetery.
