Kathryn A. (Kay) Wetsell, age 83, of Edinboro, died Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Edinboro Manor. Born on June 29, 1939 in Meadville, she was the daughter of the late W. Paul and Georgia W. Shaffer Mitchell. A 1957 graduate of Meadville High School, she married John A. Wetsell on October 8, 1960, and he survives her.

Over the years, Kay worked at banks in Meadville and Edinboro, and for Coaxial Cable in Edinboro. Many will remember her for the years she spent as the activities assistant at Edinboro Manor where she enjoyed getting to know the residents and their families.
Her faith was very important to Kay. She was a longtime active member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Cambridge Springs, where she served as the organist, and where she taught Sunday School.
Kay loved music. She was fond of singing and dancing – especially square dancing with her husband. Along with being an organist, she played the accordion for the residents at Edinboro Manor. Her other enjoyments included knitting, crocheting, camping, feeding birds, and traveling to Florida.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her sister Carole Charlton in 2015; her son-in-law Tim Oakes in 2009; and a nephew David Charlton.
She is survived by John, her husband of nearly 62 years; their two daughters – Christine Marie Stainbrook and her husband Brian, of Meadville, and Kelly Jean Burek and her husband Dave, of Meadville; 4 grandchildren – Noah and Corey Stainbrook, Ashley Oakes, and Brayden Burek; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Monday from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Cambridge Springs. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Delroy Simpson, will follow at 3:00. Burial will be at Edinboro Cemetery.
John & Kay purchased their 5th wheel from me back a few years ago and they were the nicest couple I ever had the pleasure to deal with. Kay always had a kind word to say to me every time I got a chance to visit with them . They set a example of how a marriage should be.
My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the family and just know Kay will be missed greatly….
I can remember the first day I met the Wetsells . Such a blessing. Kay was so kind and easy to be around. Truly the nicest person . Her sweetness will always be remembered.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Kay was a wonderful woman of faith. I have many fonds memories of working with her at the manor.
