George “Bill” Hodge, 92, of Juniper Village, Meadville passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on August 17, 2022, and was reunited with his one true love, Jean. Born in Lock Haven, PA on November 23, 1929, he was the son of the late William Albert Hodge and Hilda Louise Narehood Hodge. Bill lived most of his life between Cambridge Springs and Florida with Jean, his wife of sixty years who preceded him in death in 2009. Before retiring in 1986, Bill had worked for thirty-six and one-half years as superintendent for the PA Game Commission. Additionally, Bill was a faithful servant of the Lord, serving as a lay pastor. When asked how he was doing, the reply would be, “If I were any better, I’d be in Heaven.” In his younger days, Bill had been an amateur boxer with a winning record. He enjoyed golfing and traveling with his wife, Jean, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather.

In addition to his wife, Jean Hodge, Bill was preceded in death by sons, Bob and Gary Hodge; sister Louise; a granddaughter, two infant great grandchildren; and an infant sister.

Survivors include daughter, Debbie Mancos and her husband, Mark of The Villages, FL; son, Tim Hodge and his wife, Penny of Arlington, TX; daughter, Cathy Williams and her husband Dan of Woodcock, PA; daughters-in-law, Jane Hodge and Weeze Easterly; fourteen grandchildren- all of whom are sure they are his favorite; thirty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home, Cambridge Springs on Saturday, August 20th from 11 am until time of funeral service at 2 pm with pastors Jerry Walton and Rod Beardsley officiating. Interment will follow at Venango Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to Juniper Village of Meadville or Lakeland Hospice.
