Loretta J. Walmer, 84, of Cambridge Springs, formerly of McKean, passed away at home Saturday, September 24, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.  She was born December 28, 1937, in Brookville, PA daughter of the late Ellen and Lavern Brace. She graduated from Academy High School with the class of 1955 and married Charles Clyde Walmer on July 4th, 1959. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker to her four children and went on to own the Lantern Tavern with her husband for nine years.  She then worked in the General McLane High School cafeteria until her retirement. She enjoyed roller skating and riding horses with her sister, going to camp, hunting, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, bowling, playing cards and bingo.  She loved hosting parties and picnics, holiday baking, going to her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events, but mostly loved spending time with her family and friends.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charley Walmer in 2007, her sons Jake Walmer in 2014 and Rick Walmer in 2017. 

     Survivors include her daughters, Tracy (Joe) Van Hoyweghen and Shirley (Felix) Wozniak; daughter-in-law Penny Walmer (Kim Hitrik); sister Shirley Wurst; grandchildren Jason Walmer (Julie Farley), Lauren Walmer, Lauren Van Hoyweghen, Ashley Van Hoyweghen, Matt (Kelly) Walmer, Niki (Brett) Stoll, Jamie Walmer (Jeremy Walker), Anthony Conti and Mason Conti; great-grandchildren Abbi, Klayton, Declan, Daxton, Talon, Ryvver, Tyler, Laekyn, Valkyrie; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.      

Friends are invited to call at Van Matre Funeral Home, Cambridge Springs today, Tuesday, September 27 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and are invited to the funeral service to be held there on Wednesday at 3 pm. Interment will follow at Venango Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Crawford County.
