Shirley J. Pace, age 86, of Erie was welcomed into heaven on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 while at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 19, 1936 to Louis and Ella Jane Irwin Ollarek. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ronald R. Pace, Sr.

Shirley and Ron were married during Ron’s service in the US Army. Later, they returned to Summit Township where they settled on her family’s farmland and built their home and raised a family. Many wonderful memories were made in that home with their children and grandchildren. Shirley’s joy was cooking and caring for her family and she loved all family gatherings. Ron and Shirley also enjoyed being snow birds in Florida.
Along with raising her family, Shirley helped her aunt operate Arnold’s Motel on 8th Street in Erie. For several years she was employed as a secretary for the Erie Catholic Diocese.
In addition to her husband, Ron, she is survived by a daughter, Jayne Pace Rindfuss (Robert); five sons- Ronald Pace, Jr. (Melody), Randy Pace (Bobbi), Gary Pace (Yvonne), Michael Pace, and Robert Pace (Chrissy). She is further survived by 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Corey Paul Rindfuss, who passed on July 9, 2000.
Shirley was lovingly cared for by her husband and her family, especially her daughter, Jayne, and granddaughters Samantha and Julie. The family wishes to express extreme gratitude to the wonderful hospice team which include Kathy, Kimberly, and Virginia.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
As an old schoolmate and former neighbor, I remember with happiness our lives raising the boys in Summit. I remember you fondly. What great times! You deserve a happy rest in heaven. My sympathy to Ron on the loss of his life partner.
