Aunt Ruth was an amazing woman that taught me many things. She wasn’t my aunt by blood but through marriage. She made me feel like part of the family. She served as an aid for our wedding. She came to my bridal and baby showers. She made beautiful blankets for them. She had many talents from cooking, arranging flowers, and winning many ribbons at the Crawford County Fair. I asked her how many ribbons she had won over the years, “ she said boxes”. 🙂 She said it wasn’t about the ribbons, it was just fun doing it. When my kids were older she encouraged them to enter things in the fair, and she would always search to see how they did, She wasn’t a loud or flashy woman, but a soft spoken lady that served the Lord by helping with snacks at VBS and being the treasurer for Ladies Fellowship at church. She would notice if someone did something at church and would tell them that they did a good job. She loved to read, so I would bring her grocery bags filled with books from my library and she would read them so quickly. I’m going to miss giving her a bouquets of flowers and her thanking me for the “pretty posies”. I’m going to miss her sense of humor and wit so much, but I have comfort that I will see her again in Heaven.
