Lawrence E. Campbell, age 64, of Waterford, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, June 3, 2023. He was the oldest child of the late Eugene G. Campbell and Claudia L. Stone Campbell, born in Meadville on May 22, 1959.

Larry graduated from Fort LeBoeuf High School in 1978, and worked for several different employers over the years. Early on, he picked cabbage at Robert Brace Farms and worked with his dad at E.G. Campbell Trucking before owning and operating his own truck. Larry also worked for Bill Wurst Construction, Ray Showman Jr. Excavating, and as a self-employed sub-contractor, he appreciated working with Konzel Construction, Afton Trucking, and Tom Albrecht.
Most people will remember Larry for living life to the fullest and have many good “Larry” stories. He loved the outdoors and hunting, fishing, trapping, and coyote hunting with dogs.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Olive “Irene” Campbell, and Lawrence and Ethel Stone, and many aunts and uncles.
Family members include five children: Jessica Campbell of New Jersey, Jodie Long and husband Joshua of Warren, Lisa Campbell of Warren, and Larry Campbell and Rob Campbell, both of Waterford; eight grandchildren; and his siblings: Lori Campbell, Woody (Darlene) Campbell, Wendy Campbell, Gwen Campbell, and Rachel (David) Yomes.
Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Daryl Myer of Hope Junction Church, Union City, will take place at the funeral home Saturday morning at 11am. Burial will follow at Mitchell Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Bay City Gun Club, Rt. 97N, Waterford, following the services.
Larry was such a good guy. He always had a smile and a wise crack. Sympathies to all who loved him.
I’m sorry to read of Larry’s passing. I met him years ago while working at the Log Cabin. He was always having fun and playing tricks. I remember him gluing a dime to the table and laughing so hard when I tried numerous times to pick it up.
