John Edward Burns Jr., age 72, of Waterford, died Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Venango County, PA on October 30, 1950 to the late John Edward Burns and Barbara Jean Sheffler Burns. John served in the U.S. Navy from 1970-74 and was employed by General Electric for 32 years before retiring. He was a skilled welder, electrician and plumber – a “jack of all trades”. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. John loved his family very much and will be missed.

Family members include his wife Cynthia M. Johnson Burns, whom he married in 1994; his cat Rory; three children: John E. Burns Jr., Jesse Burns and his wife Chandra, and Nicole Henning; four grandchildren: Kora, Abby, David, and Colton; and his brother, Ken Burns. John was preceded in death by his parents and his son Tony Henning.

The family will hold a memorial gathering at a later date.
