Sandra Hibbard Cullen of Union City went peacefully to the Lord on August 15, 2023 at the age of 79. Born August 12, 1944 in Meadville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Kathryn “Pete” Logan Hibbard of Conneaut Lake.

Sandra was a graduate of Linesville Conneaut Summit High School and New Castle Business School. She was active for twenty years as a Girl Scout Leader and was a Life Member of Mill Village Volunteer Fire Company and Union City Volunteer Fire Department. She loved teaching fire prevention to the children of the Mill Village and Union City Elementary Schools, and other areas of the communities. She was also active with Erie County Firefighters Association and Crawford County Firemen’s and Fire Chiefs Association, where she was secretary for several years. She belonged to the Firemen’s Association of the State of Pennsylvania, holding the offices of Chairman of the Fire Safety Education Committee, Northwest Director, Western Vice President, Senior Vice President, President in 2014, and Chairperson of the Fire Safety Education.

Sandra enjoyed crocheting until her eyes didn’t let her do it anymore. She enjoyed traveling, especially cruises, because of the wonderful entertainers and people that were met. She was a member of the Mill Village United Methodist Church, Lincolnville Baptist Church, and Calvary Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death is her granddaughter Britney Lewis, a brother Richard Hibbard, a nephew Edward Barstow, and a brother-in-law Marvin Bradway.

Sandra is survived by her husband Thomas, to whom she was married for 57 years; a brother, Robert Hibbard and wife Linda of St. Petersburg, FL; Richard Hibbard’s wife Nancy of Conneaut Lake, PA; and a sister, Mona Bradway of Union City. She is further survived by three daughters- Andrea Ranyak and husband Terry, Lori Lewis and husband Michael, and Caroll Johnson; four grandchildren- Cole Lewis and wife Cynthia, Amber (Lewis) Saylor, Dylan Lewis, and Kathryn Johnson; three great-grandchildren- Cora Lewis, Zuri Price and James (Jay) Saylor; and also several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held October 14th from 11 am to 2 pm at the Union City Fire Company Social Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
