It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Kurt D. Hermann, age 60, of San Diego, CA, who left us on January 26, 2024. He was the seventh child of George and Cynthia Hermann.

Kurt was a graduate of Fort LeBoeuf High School and Erie County Vo-Tech, where he excelled in the electronics program. After graduation he worked for Gray Communications. Kurt later moved to California where he earned an associate degree from Grossmont Community College and continued his education at San Diego State University.

A compassionate and kind-hearted person, Kurt always put others first. His selflessness will continue to impact the lives of others through his organ donation. Kurt was also a gifted mathematician and an avid Ham radio operator. He enjoyed speaking with fellow operators around the world. Kurt was certified in Oracle applications related to commercial phone systems, and was employed by Scripps Hospital Systems where he was relied upon for their difficult installations.

Kurt had a love for the beach, ocean kayaking, and riding his bike with his sister. He was also passionate about learning Spanish and playing the guitar. Kurt’s ready smile was a welcome sight at family get-togethers, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his mother, Cynthia Hermann, and seven siblings: Patrick Hermann (Judith) of Cambridge Springs, Levi Hermann (Karen) of Florida, Brenda Hermann of California, Julie Lemock of Waterford, Holly Alexander of Erie, Dr. Karl Hermann (Doris) of Texas, and Andrew Hermann (Caroline) of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Kurt was preceded in death by his father, George Hermann, brother-in-law Ken Lemock and nephew Nathaniel Lemock.

A private funeral service was held for the family and interment was in Waterford Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s charity of choice
