Christine Silka Walsh of Waterford, PA entered the open arms of the Lord on January 27, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Chris was born July 9, 1948, the fourth of five children of Joe and Katie Krol Silka. She grew up in Union City, PA and graduated from Union City High School in 1966 after which she enrolled in the St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Erie, PA. Upon graduation in 1969, she served the community at St. Vincent Hospital for most of her career.

During her early years of living in Erie she met Bill Walsh, and they married on September 1, 1972, in Union City. They shared a love for the outdoors and went on to build their dream hideaway vacation home in Potter County where they could enjoy the beauty of the country. A good day there would be Bill hunting or fishing and Chris enjoying a great book or baking. Chris’s perfect weekend was going out for a drive to visit family and friends, of which there are many, or baking and cooking for others to enjoy.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Katie Silka, as well as her brother Stanley. She is survived by her husband Bill Walsh, a brother Joe Silka of Union City, her sisters MaryAnn Silka of Erie and Frannie (Dean) Dowler of Mill Village, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

All are invited to Chris’s viewing at All Saints Parish at 11264 Route 97N, Waterford on Friday, February 2nd from 9:30am until 10:45am with the opportunity to share a favorite story of Chris. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am with Rev. Gregory Passauer as Celebrant. Mausoleum entombment will be at Mary, Queen of Peace Cemetery, Lake Pleasant Road, Erie, PA.
