Gerald W. Porsch, age 80, of Summit Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024, at home. He was born June 12, 1943, in Washington, DC, the eldest son of the late Gilbert and Lois (Gloekler) Porsch.

Jerry was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School, class of 1961. He enlisted and served in the United States Army from 1961-1965. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Gannon University, and was employed at General Electric for 38 years. Jerry was the owner of Lake City Dairy Oasis for almost 40 years.

He was an avid Gannon University men’s and women’s basketball fan, and he enjoyed watching Cleveland Browns and Penn State football, Cleveland Indians baseball, and all golfing tournaments. He was a member of St. George Catholic Church, the Elks Club, the Siebenbuerger Club, and St. Boniface Ushers Club. Jerry especially enjoyed golfing on Sunday mornings, playing bingo, and taking trips to the casino.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister Adele Rene Porsch, and his in-laws Thomas and Mildred Daisley.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years Patricia (Daisley) Porsch; three children – Melissa Doughty (Rick) of West Springfield, Matthew (Tara) Porsch of Erie, and Michael (Jennifer) Porsch of Waterford; 8 grandchildren – Alan, Jocelyn, Cameron, and Jaden Doughty, Ben, Alex, and Zach Porsch, and Harper Porsch; his sisters – Judy Pelinsky (Michael) and Linda Cermak (Gregory); his brother Gary Porsch (Debra); and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to visiting hours at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford on Wednesday, February 28, from 4-7 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. George Catholic Church on Thursday at 10:00 am. A private burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gannon Men’s Basketball Team or to Perry Highway Hose Company.
