Bertha Mae Williams, age 89, resident of McKean, PA, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Erie. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Alice Longstreet Sturdivant, born in Harborcreek on February 7, 1927.
?? For most of her life, Bertha resided in Edinboro and McKean. She enjoyed her home, and even until recently, was able to garden and do her own yardwork. She loved to bake and go shopping, and she collected cookbooks and teddy bears.
Bertha Mae was a faithful member of the Waterford Church of the Nazarene. She had worked at Penn Union in Edinboro for 27 years until retiring in 1994 to spend time with her grandson, Taylor. Bertha had a special relationship with him and loved all her family very much. She will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Mead Williams, and a daughter, Nancy J. Bohman.
Surviving family members include a daughter, Carol DeSantis and her husband Rod, of McKean; her son-in-law, Dale Bohman and his wife Nancy M., whom Bertha considered a daughter, of Cambridge Springs; her grandson, Taylor Bohman of Pittsburgh; and her dear friends, Mark and Barb Davies, who were always there for her.
Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and may attend funeral services Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Gregory Jack. Interment will follow at Phillipsville Union Cemetery.
