Christopher “Chris” Michael Counasse, 44, resident of 22496 Hodges Lane, Cambridge Springs, PA died on July 11, 2016 in Erie. Born on December 12, 1971, in Erie, PA, Chris was the son of Albert and Margaret Counasse, Jr. He married the former Lisa Nadine Wilson on August 13. 1994 and they have lived in Cambridge Springs for the past 17 years.

Counasse, Christopher003Following graduation from Seneca High School, Chris began work as a farm hand and beginning in 1990 he began employment with Smith’s Provision Company in Erie where he presently held the position of maintenance supervisor. A hard worker, Chris also worked as an independent construction contractor. A very avid archery hunter and fisherman, he particularly enjoyed hunting snakes. A wonderful father, he enjoyed watching his children playing sports.

Surviving Chris in addition to his wife and parents are his three children – Rachael, Ryan, and Ethan all living at home in Cambridge Springs; two brothers – Trevor Counasse (Angie) of Wattsburg and Tracy Counasse (Kirsten) of Ft. Worth, TX; two sisters – Michele Blanks (Kenny) of Erie and Yvonne Doege of Pensacola, FL; four step sisters – Carol Lindsey (Rick) of North East, Tina Culver (Craig) of North East, Terry Young (David) of Franklin, OH, and Gail Morgan (John) of Fort Worth, TX; and his parents-in-law – John and Patricia Gutowski of Wattsburg. Chris is further survived by two brothers-in-law – Robert Gutowski (Alana) of Erie and Greg Gutowski (Susan) of Lexington, SC; several aunts and uncles and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may express their condolences to the family at a memorial visitation on Saturday, July 16th from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs. Memorial services will begin there at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Jeff Bobin, United Methodist minister, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given either directly to the family or thru the Van Matre Family Funeral Home for the purpose of assisting the Counasse children’s education.
