Evelyn Ann Orzepowski, age 89, resident of Waterford Township for most of her life, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Pleasant Ridge Manor.
Born in Erie on February 10, 1927, Evelyn was the daughter of William and Frances Straub Seroka. She attended East High School in Erie and worked at Marx Toys. On January 22, 1949, Evelyn married Stanley Orzepowski and together they operated their family dairy farm, raising their ten children to understand the value of hard work.
Evelyn loved shopping trips, going to antique stores, and decorating her home with antiques and vintage items. She loved animals, especially dogs, and sitting on the porch with her dog or spending quiet time outdoors. She also enjoyed word search and jigsaw puzzles.
Her husband Stanley died in 1987, and she was further preceded in death by her sisters Lois Chludzinski, Dorothy Seroka, and infant sister Delores Seroka, and brothers Howard and Robert Seroka, and son-in-law Louis Osiecki.
Survivors include her ten children: Patricia Orzepowski of Waterford, Kathleen Orzepowski and Jeannie Maciolek (Hank), all of Harborcreek, Barbara Orzepowski of North East, Linda Walsh (Mike) of Waterford, Phyllis Osieski of Girard, Stanley Jr., Thomas, and Walter Orzepowski, all of Waterford, and Jennifer Love (George) of Corry. Evelyn also has a sister, Harriet Sayre of Erie, and seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at calling hours on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford. The funeral service will take place there Friday at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Deacon Tom McAraw of All Saints Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will follow at Phillipsville Union Cemetery.
