Eleanore Jeanne Walker, 85, of Cambridge Springs passed away at Wesbury on May 1, 2021. Ellie was born in Northeast, PA, on April 4, 1936, the daughter of the late, Sidney Ford Irish and Mary Anna Bortner Irish. She graduated from Northeast High School with the class of 1954 and served in the U.S. Air Force as a chief clerk from 1954-1958. On August 7, 1956, she married Robert Clarence Walker and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1997. She had also worked as a switchboard operator for Alliance College and Edinboro University, retiring in 1995. As a homemaker, wife, and mother, she committed herself to the needs of her family. She was the oldest female veteran belonging to the Cambridge Springs American Legion Post 381 and was a member of the Cambridge Springs First Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Bingham.
Survivors include, daughter, Kathryn A. Gill and her fiancé, Steve Humes of Cambridge Springs; son, Joseph C. Walker of Ft. Stockton, TX; son, Bill R. Walker of Philadelphia; daughter, Barb Ann Walker of Cambridge Springs; daughter, Theresa M. Butler and her fiancé, Jeff Gosnell of Meadville; sister, Kay Adams and her husband, Richard of Erie; brother, Bill Irish and his wife, Becky of Erie; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to call at the Van Matre Funeral, Cambridge Springs on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. and are invited to a funeral service to be held there on Thursday, May 6, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Cambridge Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
