Betty Ann Leonhart Humes, 83, of Cambridge Springs passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 17, 2021. Betty was born on December 4, 1937, the daughter of the late Frank and Ethelyn (Bain) Leonhart. She married the love of her life George E. Humes, Jr. on December 26, 1987, and he preceded her in death. Betty graduated from Saegertown High School in 1955 and attended Edinboro Normal School (known now as Edinboro University) for her LPN License. Then at the age of 53, she attended Villa Maria College and earned her RN License.  She loved working with geriatric patients and was employed at numerous nursing homes throughout her nursing career.  Upon her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering for local hospice services.  Betty was the “Family Historian” and could tell you who belonged to who and how; even though most of those that listened “still couldn’t understand it.”  Betty used to love to bowl in the women’s and senior bowling leagues and going to tournaments. She also loved bingo and appreciated her scratch off lottery tickets and going to the casino.  She enjoyed being able to spend time at Sonny and Pat’s Camp.  Betty was known for her quick wit and sense of humor and kept us laughing until the end. Most of all, she loved her family and friends.  She could make friends anywhere she went, and she always made sure that her friends felt like family and her family like friends. Betty was lovingly known as Mom, Momma Betty, Grandma, Mema, Aunt Granny, Aunt Betty and is survived by numerous family members who loved her very much, and she loved them equally.

In addition to her husband, George E. Humes Jr., Betty was preceded in death by stepchildren: Donald E. Humes, Darlene Humes; siblings: Bill Leonhart, John Leonhart, George “Butch” Leonhart, David Leonhart, Marian Smith, Dick Lilly, Betty Hunter, Doris Hunter, and Edith Taylor.

Survivors include her four children: Jeff (Lacy) Leonhart, Joni (Michael) Masley, Jodi Kenny, and Jackie (Don) Lineberry; stepchildren: George (Patricia) Humes, Maxine Humes, and Patty Humes; siblings: Robert Leonhart, Alton “Bill” Lilly, Sarah Courtney; grandchildren: Jerred (Amanda) Masley, Ashley (Josh) Thorpe, Tori Kenny, Kelsee (Kyler) Kenny-Ward, Daniel (Christina) Lineberry, Carli Lineberry, Jaimie Leonhart, and Harley Huya Leonhart; and great-grandchildren “Her Babies:” Domenic Lineberry, Isaiah Lineberry, Cassandra Lineberry, Charlie Lineberry, and Kalise Kenny-Ward.

There will be a celebration of Betty’s life at 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at the Cambridge Springs American Legion Post 381 – all are welcome to attend.
