Merlin Thomas Post, age 80, died at Corry Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. He was born in Union City on April 1, 1941, a son of the late Thomas and Melva McWilliams Post.
Merlin was a lifelong farmer, having grown up on the Post family farm, and continuing to farm with his brother, Ed Post, until he was no longer able due to health reasons. He enjoyed reading farm magazines, working crossword puzzles, and watching the Cleveland Browns and LeBron James.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Marjorie Post, a brother, Dale Post, and his sister-in-law, Bonnie Post.
Surviving family members include his brother, Edward Post of Waterford; two nieces, Cynthia Leslie and husband David of Lehigh Acres, FL, and Susan Bisbee and husband Russell of Union City; eight great-nieces: Stephanie, Michelle, Christine, Ashley, Katie, Amanda, Sarah, and Sharon; and several cousins.
A private viewing will be held for the family at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford, and friends are invited to a graveside committal service at Waterford Cemetery on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ken Devine officiating.
