George Edward Townley, 94, of 26820 Gravel Run Road, Cambridge Springs passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at the Crawford County Care Center. He was born on August 26, 1927, the son of the late Rudd and Rae Bertram Townley. He married Helen Britton on January 22, 1949, and she preceded him in death on January 5, 1994. George was a longtime resident of Richmond Township, Crawford County, PA. He was a dedicated farmer who spent his entire career working the Townley and Boyle family farm with his late brother-in-law, Chum Boyle and then with his nephew, Gary Boyle. George also was a township supervisor and school bus driver for many years. He was a member of the Blooming Valley United Methodist Church. 

     In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by sister, Betty Boyle and her husband Chum. 

     Survivors include son, Paul Townley of Cambridge Springs; daughter, Laurie Shearer (Donald) of Cambridge Springs; five grandchildren, Donnie Shearer (Wendy) of Albuquerque, NM; Lisa Kurt (James) of Meadville, Jeffrey Shearer (Cara) of Silver City, NM, Renee Mallory (Eric) of Meadville and Chance Townley of Cambridge Springs; nine great grandchildren, Devin and Zack Shearer, Racheal, Ryan, Nicholas and Mason Townley, Natalie and Kyle Kurt and Madison Mallory; nephew, Gary Boyle (Yvonne) and their children, Tammy and Ryan; cousin, Lois Proper; and many other nieces and nephews. 

     Friends and family may call on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Van Matre Funeral Home, Cambridge Springs from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 10 am with interment to follow at Townley Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Blooming Valley or the New Richmond United Methodist Church.
