Larry Z. Kukuda of Waterford, passed away at his home in Waterford on Monday morning, December 20, 2021 at the age of 83. Larry was born in Tatabanya, Hungary on October 27, 1938 to Istvan and Karolin Kiprich Kukuda. During the Hungarian Revolution in 1958, he was forced to flee his country and arrived in the United States with a friend. He married Elizabeth Halmi from Waterford, and together they farmed and raised a family. Larry also worked at Urick Foundry for many years and was a landlord. Any free time was spent fishing– it was his favorite pastime along with hunting.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Halmi Kukuda; an adopted son, Kevin Kukuda; and a brother and sister.
He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Greenlee and husband Scott of Norwalk, CT; two sons, Larry Kukuda Jr. and John Kukuda; 3 grandchildren, Erin Smalley (Zach), Jordan Greenlee (Virginia), and Ryan Greenlee; 2 great-grandchildren, Peter and Daniel Smalley; and his 2nd wife Peggy Kukuda.
