Albert E. (Ernie) Hunter, age 89, of Mill Village, died Monday, April 25, 2022. He was born May 28, 1932 in Titusville and lived his first 18 years nearby attending Tidioute High School. A Korean War veteran, Ernie served in the U.S. Navy and, after returning home, he attended meat cutting school in Toledo, OH. He then partnered with his brother Jack in operating Russ Weed’s Meats in Waterford, and later ran a wholesale business, Al Hunter Quality Meats, a family-run business for over 30 years. Ernie also operated a paving/sealing business and a used car business, and he was a doll-maker, making ethnic talking dolls, and a talented cartoonist. He finished out his working career by getting involved with oil fracking and numerous producing wells on his grandmother’s farm in Pineville, PA.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Garwood Hunter and Pearl Vivian Wright Hunter; his wife, Julia Ann Sveda Hunter; his brother Jack Hunter; and his companion later in life, Gloria Campbell.
Surviving family members include his son Todd and his wife Sue; daughter Teri; three grandsons – Eli, Christopher and Zack; and his sister Judy Rudolf and her husband Rudy.
Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford on Thursday, April 28th from 4 – 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Mill Village United Presbyterian Church on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Linda Dinger officiating. Burial will be in LeBoeuf Cemetery.
