Lisa Marie Baughman, age 41, left this life on May 31, 2022 at her lifelong residence in Waterford, PA. Born on January 14, 1981, Lisa was the first-born child of William and Cecelia (Wisniewski) Baughman. From an early age, she discovered a love of the great outdoors and she spent countless summers “swamp tromping” with her baby brother through the woods out back. Though she loved hiking, canoeing, and camping, her favorite season was winter, when she always stayed out too late, sledding in the yard after dark, or cross-country skiing under the stars.

A rescuer of animals, Lisa embraced the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi—patron saint of animals and the environment. Throughout her life, she opened her home and heart to countless animals in need, nourishing and nursing them, offering only love and refuge.

Lisa attended Fort LeBoeuf High School where she played clarinet in the marching band, pep band, and was a member of the National Honor Society. A voracious reader and night owl, she graduated near the top of her class in 1999. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Gannon University in 2004 and went on to continue her studies as a graduate student. After college, she built a career in public service with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and dedicated her life to conserving our waterways and protecting the natural world upon which all life depends.

In addition to her parents, Lisa is survived by her brother Daniel, two nephews, one niece, her maternal grandmother, Doris Marie (Beers) Wisniewski, her best friend/”sister” Jessica Craig, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert “Cherry” Wisniewski, Arthur Baughman, and Oleta Baughman, and her nephew, Alistair.

Visiting hours will be at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held there Wednesday morning at 11:00 am officiated by Rev. Gregory Passauer of All Saints Parish.
