Dr. Donald Edward Snyder, 96, of Cambridge Springs passed away on June 6, 2022, at UPMC Hamot. Don was born in Roaring Spring, PA on January 22, 1926, the son of the late Jesse Snyder and Rose Geible Snyder and stepson of Clara Snyder. Don was a World War II veteran serving with the US Army Air Corps from 1943-1946. On April 1, 1953, he married the former Marion Elizabeth Weigel. After graduating from Wesleyville High School and the Pennsylvania School of Optometry, he began his optometry practice in Wesleyville in the early 1950’s, continuing for over fifty years. He held a pilot and sail plane license and was a published author writing several magazine articles as well as the children’s books, Danny’s Glider Ride and Last Chance Haul. He was a longtime member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Erie.

     He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Elizabeth Snyder in 2018.

     Survivors include daughter, Amy J. Snyder of Painesville, Oh; son, Derek Snyder of Springboro, PA; daughter, Dulcie Lee of Cambridge Springs; grandson, Christopher Snyder and his wife, Nicole; granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson and her husband, Shawn; granddaughter, Rachel Snyder; and grandson, Grant Lee.      

Friends are invited to a graveside committal service on Saturday, June 11, at 10 am at Dunn Valley Cemetery with military honors to follow.
