Virginia June Bonecutter, age 97, of Oil City passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at her daughter Sandra’s home in Oil City. She was born in Montpelier, Indiana on March 25, 1925, the daughter of the late Frend Saeger and Esther Troutner Saeger. She graduated from Lima High School and attended Otterbein College. Virginia (Gini) married Harold William Bonecutter in Livermore, CA on June 22, 1945. She lived in Lima Ohio from the age of thirteen until the family’s move to New Bedford, PA in 1966 for William’s new posting as a Navy recruiter in Youngstown, Ohio. When William retired from the Navy in 1971, the family moved to Cambridge Springs, PA.

                She was a member of North Richmond United Methodist Church where she played the organ and piano and sang in the choir. Since her move to Oil City with her daughter Sandra’s family after their home outside of Cambridge Springs burned to the ground in March 2013, she has attended the Grace United Methodist Church of Oil City. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, embroidery, music, and sewing. She worked for many years for Allegheny College library in Meadville, PA. Additionally, she worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture as a federal farm insurance inspector. Gini loved being a mom, grandmother, and great grandmother.

  In addition to her parents, Gini was preceded in death by husband, Harold William Bonecutter.

 Survivors include her daughters June Baker (partner John Grossman), Sandra Gagliotti (husband John Gagliotti) and Laurie McKenze (husband David Long) and her son William Bonecutter, all of Cambridge Springs; ten grandchildren, Philip Baker, JoAnne Baker, Joshua Bonecutter, Melissa Schaefer, Anna Barnes, Tyania Bonecutter, Frend Bonecutter, Jesse Bonecutter, Nathaniel Long, and Sasha Long; sixteen great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.                

Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home, Cambridge Springs on Monday, September 26, from 10 am until time of funeral service at 11 am with the Rev. Gale Boocks of Grace United Methodist Church, Oil City officiating. Interment will follow at Venango Cemetery.
