Lois Estelle Whitcomb, age 93, of McKean, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022 at UPMC Hamot. She was born June 24, 1929 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of William Wiley Weber and Frances M. Madole Dunsworth. She married Merton Calvin Whitcomb on January 9, 1954 and he died in 1989.

Lois graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1951 and continued to be an active member of the Delta Zeta Omicron sorority. After marrying her husband, they lived in Kansas operating their family’s farm until returning to Pittsburgh in 1961. They then moved to the Erie area in 1968 where she worked for Allied Van Lines for many years until she was 75 years old. Lois was devoted to her family, church, and work. She was a longtime parishioner at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in McKean.
In addition to her husband, Merton, she was preceded in death by her sister Joan McNally, her niece Kathy Dulovich and nephew Dan McNally.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Katherine Sauers and her husband Henry of Waterford, and their children- Kallie, Denton, and Breanna Sauers; her daughter Anne Coursey of Erie, and her children- Cameron and Cooper Coursey; her son David Whitcomb of Springboro; and her daughter, Barbara Burnett and her husband John of Raleigh, NC, and their children-Daniel (Lily) and Rachel Burnett. She is further survived by two great-grandchildren, Mila Sauers and Nora Burnett; her brother, Ronald Weber and his wife Rose of West Hollywood, CA; and her brother-in-law, Tom McNally of Sarasota, FL.
The family extends thanks to Reese, Jackie, Lin, Brenda and Leah, all who lovingly provided care for Lois.
Friends may call at Van Matre Funeral Home in Edinboro on Friday morning from 10:30 am until time of a prayer service at 11:30 am. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in McKean at 12:00 noon officiated by Rev. Jason Feigh. Services will conclude with committal and burial at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
