Christopher William Unger, “Chris”, age 54, of Waterford, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on Friday, March 22, 2024. He was born in Erie, PA on August 20, 1969, an only child of William and Nancy Unger.

Chris was a deeply kind, caring and gentle soul. He was reserved and a man of few words, but his generous heart spoke volumes. His dry wit sense of humor was priceless. As a true lover of nature, Chris enjoyed hunting, fishing and swimming, and appreciated each season and the beauty it offered.

Reflecting back on the good old days, Chris was a proud owner of a beautiful Harley Davidson. He welcomed the freedom of the open roads and fresh air. Chris and his soulmate Tamara spent endless hours and miles together. For close to twenty years, they were inseparable and they made millions of memories together.

Chris was a 1989 graduate of McDowell High School. He worked at Horwath Electric as a skilled mechanic for many years, then with Pennsylvania Electric Motor Service until 2017. At that time, Chris became aware of his father’s struggles with Alzheimer’s Disease and made the selfless commitment to become his full-time caregiver so he could remain in his home. For the past seven years, Chris managed all aspects of his Dad’s care, working through the ongoing challenges with diligence.

Chris was an honorable son. It is unimaginable and heartbreaking that we have lost an amazing man so soon.

Chris is survived by his parents William and Nancy, his loving aunt (William’s sister) Patricia Roberts, her daughter Vickie Stagl (Joe) and their children Logan and Taylor. In addition, Chris will forever remain in the heart of his beloved Tamara Seidler, his lifelong buddy Tom Phillips, and the special friends Chris shared many good times with over the years. FYI- Whopper and Molly are included.

Private services will be held at Van Matre Funeral Home in Waterford. Memorials may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
