Elsie A. (Major) Gray, age 88, of McKean, PA was born January 14, 1936 and passed away on April 27, 2024, after a brief illness. Elsie is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 70 years, Donald Gray; four children- Rick (Sue) Gray, Pam (Jim) Campbell, Chris Gray, and Dawn (Tim) Dillen; daughter-in-law Carla Gray; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; sisters Joanne, Cheryl, Priscella; and half-sisters and half-brothers.

Elsie is preceded in death by her son Michael Gray, sister Mary Gardner, her mother Lucille Carver-Major (Donnell) and father Thomas N. Major. Elsie most enjoyed spending time with her family. As a tribute of her love, she made crocheted blankets upon the birth of her grandchildren, decorated cakes for weddings and birthdays, and gave special “just because I love you” gifts. She loved flowers, gardening, playing board games and decorating for holidays. Elsie was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren with an endearing spirit of unconditional love. Elsie’s life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, the lives she touched, and the love she shared. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will bloom eternally in the hearts of those she has left behind. Dear Uncle Don and family,
I so wish I could have been able to come to say my good-byes and to give you all a hug. I loved my Aunt Elsie. She was very special to me. I have so many memories from the past spending time at your home. For many years while she and Uncle Don were able, they would host a big picnic when we would come to PA to visit. Aunt Elsie also sent us a baby gift whenever we had a baby and it was usually handmade by her. Those were always treasured and I love bragging on them to friends. I am so very thankful that Tom and I were able to get in short visits when we went to PA to visit our daughters, the last one being in September 2023. The obituary was beautiful and the picture is how I remember her-that beautiful smile!
I love you Uncle Don and I am sad that I could not hug you in person at this difficult time. I am praying that God will comfort you and the family as you grieve Aunt Elsie’s passing.
